Jessica Amarnek
Jessica was first introduced to glass at a local and privately owned glass studio, Taylor Backes. Enamored by the material and its endless possibilities, Jessica went on to study at Tyler School of Art, of Temple University, in Philadelphia. While in school, she studied various forms of glass making, and began exploring and utilizing the material for its inherent fragile and ephemeral qualities. Upon receiving her B.F.A. in 2010, Jessica was selected for a studio technician apprenticeship at the Pittsburgh Glass Center. While in Pittsburgh, Jessica continued creating art, teaching, and assisting other artists. Her glass work which calls upon the fragility and strength of life and human emotions has been exhibited in many galleries including Artist Image Rescource, Morgan Contemporary Glass Gallery, Pittsburgh Glass Center’s Hodge Gallery and a solo exhibition at Pittsburgh Center for the Arts. In 2013, Jessica moved back to Philadelphia where she continues to sculpt glass and exhibit her work.
